Play a Solo Game with Bots
#1
Let's set up a solo game (you versus three bots).
1. In the Lobby, just click New Game.
2. That brings up the Create New Table box:

3. Look at the Card selector. If it doesn't say the name of the card you want to play with, click it and change to the card you want.

Choose if you want Safety ON or OFF. The main difference is that Auto Pass works in Safety ON mode, and Safety ON mode doesn't allow you to declare Mah Jongg in error. If you are new to mah-jongg, Safety ON is recommended.

The timers don't do anything in solo games vs. three bots, so you can ignore the Timer settings.

Assigned seating and Random seating are options you can use in a Public game, not a Private game. If you're playing with bots, you can ignore this setting.

4. To play a game with 3 bots, it's best to choose Private game. If you start a Public game, some other player might jump into an available seat.

5. Then click Create. This takes you to the Game Setup page.

A Mah Jongg game needs four players. For now, let's add three bots. You get to pick the bots separately so that you can mix and match the types of bots you play against.

6. Just click the "Add Bots" button at the right side of the screen.
7. The "Add Bots" selector pops up.
8. Click on three bots. For now, just click "Beginner" three times, to select three Beginner bots. After you’ve selected three bots, the Add Bots selector goes away.

9. Now that you have four players seated at your table, the "Start Game" button at the right side will light up, and you can press it and get the game started. See https://faqs.nmjlonline.com/forums/showt...php?tid=78 for how to proceed from there.

The bot types are:

Beginner:  Does not consider multiple hand options; eager to make exposures; moves seem random
Advanced:  Tries to play as well as possible
Cagey:  Prefers not to expose jokers
High Scorer:  Prefers to make hands worth more than 25
Open: Avoids Concealed hands.
Gardener:  Prefers to make hands with flowers; is more reluctant to discard flowers
Defensive: Pays close attention to others' exposures so as not to throw a win.
